CN Tower Toronto
Standing at 553.33m, Toronto's CN Tower is the world's tallest building. The structure was originally built in 1976 to represent the strength of Canadian industry, as well as serve as the answer to a communication problem in Toronto. Since at that point the city was made up of mostly low, smaller buildings, bad reception was becoming an increasing annoyance. The answer was found in the CN tower, which has microwave receptors sitting 338m high. As a result, Toronto now has some of the clearest reception in all of North America.
The tower had major construction and renovation done to it between 1997 and 1998, and upon re-opening its doors it has become a rejuvenated hotspot for both travelers and locals alike.
The most astounding part of being at the top of the tower is the view, which stretches on a sunny day up to hundreds of miles. The 360 Restaurant resides in the dome at the top of the tower. This restaurant completes a rotation every 72 minutes, a perfect timing for enjoying your meal while getting a 360-degree view of the city below. For another stomach-dropping view, try the glass floor deck: standing on this clear floor with the cities streets thousands of feet below is terrifying and thrilling all at once.
The Tower's Edge Arcade has top of the line arcade and simulation games, and the Maple Leaf theatre runs a documentary on the building of the tower. When you're ready to leave, stop by the Marketplace to get all your CN Tower souvenirs.
